Pakistan and India will be facing each other in ICC Champions Trophy’s match which is going to be held on Sunday 4th June at Edgbaston.
India Pakistan matches are always awaited events in cricket world but it is more thrilling when these teams have not played a series against each other for a long time. Both cricketing rivals only face each other in ICC organized tournaments like world cups.
Recent Form
Pakistan
Pakistan looks in a good form because of its team combination which has played an away series in West Indies. Pakistan have won all formats (Test, ODI, T20) of the game played in that series. Pakistan arrived England two weeks early to practice and adopt English conditions. In first practice match, Pakistan beat Bangladesh by 2 wickets after a nail biting finish. Pakistan chased down 342 runs with some fresh faces in the playing eleven.
India
Defending champion India is brilliant form at the moment. They beat Australia in home test series with 2-1, they won only test match against Bangladesh, and before that they have brutally beat England in Test, ODIs and T20 in India.
In first two warm up matches of ICC Champions Trophy, they are clearly stating that they are here to defend the title. India bowled out New Zealand on 189 runs and beat them with D/L method. In second match against Bangladesh, they have crushed their opponents by sending every one to the pavilion on just 84 runs. This means that not only in batting, bowling section on India is very strong now. They have bowled out Bangladesh on 84 runs which had scored 341 against Pakistan.
Head To Head
Pakistan have won 57 ODI matches against India which are played in Asia out of 96. And on the other hand, India have won 36. If we talk about ODI matches of India and Pakistan which are played out side Asia, then the figure is too close. Out of 28 matches, Pakistan have won 14 and India have won 13.
In and Out
We are not seeing any big change in Indian team as it is playing quite well in this combination in last few series against Australia, Bangladesh and England.
On the other hand, Pakistani ODI squad is in developing process after Azhar Ali left captaincy of team. Some new faces and come backs are expected. Sarfaraz is leading Pakistani team now.
Shadab Khan and Faheem Ashraf are expected to be included. Muhammad Abbas is also called to England for his performance in test series against West Indies. Haris Suhail is also in the squad after almost two years because of his injury.
Pitch Conditions
We have seen some rains in fast few days at venue Edgbaston and more showers are expected. In this scenario, pitch will be containing some moisture in it to help bowlers. Toss will be a key factor. First few overs will be difficult for batting side.
