New Zealand vs India – 1st T20 Highlights & Result


India won the first T20 by 6 wickets against New Zealand in Eden Park Auckland in a high score match.

New Zealand Innings

India won the toss and choose to bowl first. New Zealand started off really well when Martin Guptill and Colin Munro have 80 runs opening partnership against Indian bowling attack.

Two wickets were taken by India at 116 and 117 but it could not effect scoring pace of New Zealand. Guptill, Munro, Williamson and Taylor did the real damage to India on average strike rate of 175.

Bumrah, Thakur, Chahal, Jadeja and Dube got one wicket each. Thakur and Shami were the most expensive bowlers from Indian bowling side.

New Zealand put a high total on board for India to chase and they were very confident to defend it with the fire power they got in bowling.

Innings of India

India lost first wicket soon but when Rohit Sharma got out on total of 16. It was a bang when Virat Kohli joined KL Rahul on crease. 204 looked a very easy target, there were some classy sixes and fours going all over the boundaries.

Two set batsmen Lokesh Rahul and Virat Kohli got out on total of 121. There was no time for new batsmen to set on crease and chase 204. Shreyas Iyer was the man who held his nerves and played a fantastic innings of 58 runs with strike rate of 200. His innings was the turning point of the mat6ch which took the match in favor of India.

Indian batting side just blew up the economy rate of New Zealand bowlers with their hard but classy hitting.
